Amy and Tim

http://www.ecorbett.com/amytimwedding/

Here's a slideshow of a wedding my dad and I shot August 21st. The bride and groom, Amy and Tim, are both friends and from Newport. I took shots of the guys getting ready, while my dad spent some time with the girls. We both covered the ceremony at St. Mary's Church on Spring St. After the ceremony, I went with Amy and Tim and the rest of the wedding party and walked from St. Mary's down to the Bowen's Wharf. From there we took the Rum Runner through Newport Harbour and over to Castle Hill for the reception. The boat ride was cool and refreshing on a very humid Friday in August. The cocktail hour and reception were a lot of fun with a great band and good food. Enjoy the show!

Foghat

Foghat Palace Theatre Manchester, NH 6.14.09

Earlier this summer I got to personally witness, for the first time, the power of the boogie machine that is Foghat. It was definitely worth the 2 hour drive to the Palace Theatre in Manch to see these guys. Although they only have 1 original member, drummer Roger Earl, the other members fill the shoes of the original lineup of Lonesome Dave, Rod Price, and Tony Stevens quite well. It was a tight set with lots of jammin..enjoy the slideshow of pics..

Invisible Fireworks

It was the end of the summer fireworks in Newport last night. There was a great sunset
behind the bridge and it was a cool night. Navy band played traditional songs and fireworks
were set for 9:00pm. When it came time, the fog had rolled in so hard all you could see were
colored clouds and loud explosions. We waited til the end to see if it would clear, but it didn't. I got a few shots of a little girl waving a fluorescent night stick.

Vejadu

This is a gallery of photos from a local band called Vejadu playing at Ballard Park in Newport, RI.
The fog rolled in strong and it got dark earlier than normal. Great set with some Stones, Allman Bros, and some original tunes too.

Black Crowes Hampton Beach

Here's a slideshow of the Crowes playin' Hampton Beach earlier this summer. I set it to a song recorded from the show called Comin' Home. Awesome set included Remedy, Don't Do It (Band cover), By Your Side, Good Friday, Girl From the North Country (Dylan cover), My Morning Song and a bunch of other good tunes. Thanks Sadie for the birthday ticket! There are some pictures from the car ride through Hampton Beach and walking around before the show. Look out for the dragon wailing on a guitar-probably one of the most badass sand creatures I've ever been in the presence of.

Baby Olivia

Here are some pictures I took today of my friends' Kayla and Eddy's new baby Olivia. She's a week old, has a full head of hair and is a welcome addition to the James' Gang..

Origin of the Slatr

During my freshman year at Babson College I lived in a hallway where there were about 5 different John's. It would get quite confusing, especially at a small school when you we in classes with the same people. I usually wrote my name as John EC as my last name is hyphenated Edward-Corbett. My friend Henry came up with EC Slatr as a nicknname referencing AC Slater from the popular television show Saved by the Bell. The name seemed to stick with my friends and I began introducing myself as Slatr. When I was thinking up a way to do a photo/lifestyle blog, I thought using Slatr, much like Dr. Hunter S. Thompson used Dr. Gonzo for his perspective in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, would be an interesting approach. So this blog will follow my pseudonym's adventures with images and detailed posts..

Mantis

Toad

I found this little toad when I was cutting the grass under our grape vine. I ended up taking him over to the garden and took a couple shots of him on a big wooden bench. There's also a couple shots of a praying mantis I took last summer. I saw a baby mantis today in the garden and I'm hoping to get some shots of it.

Here we go..

I actually started a blog a few months ago, but have now switched to an easier automated layout, which I can update more frequently. This blog will serve as a gateway of my photos, ideas, quotes, links, and other musings..
